On December 1, 2016 in Dushanbe, the Central Asian Association of People Living with HIV and the non-governmental organization SPIN Plus organized an action dedicated to the World AIDS Day on December 1.
The action was held with participation of popular young rap and pop singers of Tajikistan, among them: Bach – 84, MC Manu, Kesher, Shahbozi Akobir, Jahongir Zaripov, Shahromi Abubakra, Bahromi Gafuri. These artists are idols, an example for imitation of many young people of the country and conductors of ideas of HIV prevention. Namely, the current World campaign dedicated to the World AIDS Day, whose slogan “I am for! Prevention of HIV. ”
The campaign focuses on various aspects of HIV prevention and certain population groups, such as adolescent girls and young women, key populations at high risk of HIV infection and people living with HIV, which is extremely relevant for the Republic of Tajikistan. Therefore, the goal of the event is to draw the attention of the public, and in particular the youth, to issues related to informing about the need to take care of one’s health and those around them through regular testing and improving skills of a healthy lifestyle.
– “Care for the future of our country and the region, largely depends on the health of the younger generation. Stigma and lack of awareness of HIV prevention and treatment cause discrimination. Because of this, hundreds and thousands of people suffer. Our task, as representatives of the community, which are involved in providing access to prevention and treatment, is to inform the youth about the importance and significance of their participation in the health of the nation, “said Pulod Djamolov, executive director of SPIN Plus NGO.
Representatives of the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan, the City Health Department of Dushanbe, the Republican AIDS Center, international organizations, non-governmental organizations – Guli Surkh, Vita, Bovari, and Marvor, participated in the action. people living with HIV are community leaders.
