Review Meeting on SOP / RRP-16 in Bangkok

A review meeting was held about the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Control (PEPFAR) of the country and regional Operational Plans (COP / ROP) – 2016 in April 29 – May 2, 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The objectives of the event are: clarification of all outstanding issues on the submitted SOP / RRP-16 and establishment of interaction with key global and local stakeholders – communities, multilateral organizations, government partner agencies for joint implementation of innovative solutions.

Leslie Hayden, Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Tajikistan, Allison Lynch, PEPFAR Program Coordinator, Perry Killam, CDC Head, Regional Director of the CDC HIV / TB Program, Kite Erdal, Head of the USAID / Melissa Moore, Chair of the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator under the US Secretary of State, Nicolas Canto, Regional Manager, Eastern Europe and Central Asia (including Ukraine), Global Fund, Viney Saldana, Regional Director for Eastern Countries Europe and Central Asia, UNAIDS, Nurali Amanzholov, the president, the Central Asian Association of People Living with HIV and others.

During the event, PEPFAR / CAR presented an overview of the cumulative progress in the implementation of RRP-15 as of the end of the first quarter of 2016, as well as relevant systems of work and results at the country level. The PEPFAR team in the CAR presented its experience of interaction with stakeholders during the meetings on the analysis of the progress of PEPFAR in 2015 and the development of the strategy and activities of ROP-16. All of the participants in the review meeting and signing the meeting discussed these issues.

Nurali Amanzholov, President of the Central Asian Republic of Uzbekistan, also took part in an international visit. During the visit, the problems of PLHIV were discussed, contacts were established with the Pacific Network of People Living with HIV, an exchange of experience was conducted, and plans for further cooperation were outlined.
